CORDRAY...

     According to the Grove City Record, of Wednesday, June 10,
1992, Richard Cordray, candidate for the 15th U.S. House Seat,
takes a strong stand on crime and criminal activities.
     In the article written by Marcia Thompson, Cordray has
informed police chiefs and sheriffs in Franklin, Madison, and
Pickaway counties.  His stand includes extended death penalties,
especially for the slaying of a police officer and drive-by
shootings; limiting appeals by convicted criminals to one federal
appeal; allowing victim-participation in sentencing; restricting
the scope of the exclusionary rule by "...reinforce a clear
`good-faith' exception to the exclusion of evidence when police
acted on the basis of a warrant, and provide an alternative remedy
for violations of the Fourth Amendment to allow evidence to come in
at trial."  He also favors increased aid for state and local law
enforcement, expansion of the use of shock incarceration, and the
incapacitation of violent offenders for fixed terms that would
incapacitate them from committing further violence.
     The Democratic candidate is also in favor of a waiting period
and background check for handguns.  "There should be provided a
five-day waiting period for the purchase of handguns to perform
background checks on buyers, to be supplanted as instantaneous
background checks become available."
     How many of your freedoms are you willing to give up for
safety, especially since the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the
police are under no obligation to protect you, the individual
citizen.
