TORONTO NUTS BAN BIG TOP...

      I'm sure PROponent readers will remember that little serene
island of peace and tranquility among all us violent, death-dealing
gun nuts: Toronto, Canada.  You remember, the city that not only
banned all guns, but even banned any object that looks like a gun!
Yuk!  Get those gun-shaped-objects out of my sight!
     Well now to show that they still have the vision and
intelligence to lead us all into the new age, Toronto city fathers
have taken up with animal "rights" fanatics.  Toronto City Council
has voted to ban circuses from that town.  The ban covers all
exotic animal acts with animals not indigenous to North America.
Domestic animals, Zoos and educational displays are exempted - for
now.
     According to the July, 24 Gun Week the Ringling Brothers,
Barnum & Bailey Circus can no longer come to town and the city
stands to loose an estimated 10 million dollars a year in revenue.
Promoters are worried that Toronto may get a reputation as a
difficult place to do business.  Obviously loss of reputation or
revenue doesn't bother Toronto City Council any more than it
bothered our own.  Our city council seems to like our reputation
that anything goes if you "play ball" with the movers and shakers,
but if you don't well then it's a difficult place to do business.
     Other cities from Vancouver, Canada to London England have
also banned exotic animal acts as being "inherently inhumane".  A
Ringling spokesman called the charges of mistreatment "ludicrous".
