TAX REVOLT...

On May 12, 1991, NBC TV aired a program about Gordon Kahl.
Kahl was a right-wing extremist, ex-con that was charged with the
murder of two U.S. Marshals. There was an extensive man hunt,
before he was tracked down and killed. Or at least that is what NBC
would have us believe.
As usual, the media picture is more than a little distorted.
The story we are about to give you comes not from commercial media
but rather from Officer Jack McLamb who has spent a great deal of
time and money investigating this whole sordid affair. It was
reported in the Vol I, Number 8 Aid and Abet newsletter.
Its true Kahl protested paying taxes to the federal
government, and had possible links to a group called Posse
Comitatus but, said McLamb, "Kahl was known by those in law
enforcement in the area as a nice man, a good neighbor. But, was
also known to be a rather hard-headed `Christian',
`Constitutionalist', `Tax Protester' type." He was a decorated
WWII war hero and model citizen for 63 years. His "ex-con" status
came from two years in prison for challenging the federal Income
Tax.
The odd thing is that in February of 1983 the U.S. Marshall of
North Dakota, Kenneth Muir decided serve a 2 year old misdemeanor
warrant from Texas on the 63 year old farmer. He did this in spite
of orders from Washington D.C. not to attempt to serve it. On
February 13, 1983, Marshall Muir set his plan in action. That same
day several witness state that Kahl received an anonymous call
saying he was "going to be killed at an ambush set up by Government
officers." Kahl, his son, and several others, not knowing if there
was any truth to this, took weapons with them to his regular Sunday
meeting.
As they left the meeting people noticed a government officer
watching through field glasses. As a precaution, Yory Kahl asked
his dad to switch jackets with him. They did. According to court
testimony, the officer radioed ahead to the roadblock that they
were on their way. The two Kahl cars were surrounded by three
government vehicles filled with armed officers. I will quote
McLamb as to what happened next:
"During a brief yelling session, a single shot rang out and
Kahn's son was hit once on the handle the revolver that was
holstered and hanging over his upper left chest area. A Marshall
yelled, `Who Shot ?' Then another single shot from a shotgun took
Kahl's son off his feet with a final scream- `Dad, I'm hit!'"
Kahl opened fire with his "semi-auto" Ruger .223 ranch rifle
and in a few minutes two marshals were dead and three other
government officers and Kahn's son were injured. That day Kenneth
Muir and Robert Chesire died. Amazingly, Kahl took some of the
injured to a medical clinic and then disappeared. And even more
amazing is that Kahl's son did not die but recovered. He and
another man were convicted and are serving life for the deaths of
the men Kahl killed.
If you think it ends there you are wrong. The FBI claimed to
have located Kahl in a farmhouse outside Smithville AR on June 3,
1983. The official story is that Sheriff Gene Matthews fired one
shot and Kahl fired one shot killing each other. However, McLamb
states, "clear evidence has been discovered which proves the
face-to-face shootout official explanation is not true." He
continues, "Officers...have evidence that will prove that federal
officers killed both brother Gene and the person alleged to be
Kahl. Other evidence points to these homicides being committed
intentionally."
In presenting his condolences to Sheriff Matthews parents
McLamb, "explained to Mr. Gene Matthews Sr. the facts and evidence
we had uncovered in this case that proves their son did not do the
things he was accused of. I did not share with him the evidence
that points to the probability that Gene's mistake was telling the
officers at the scene, (who had just executed a man that they
believed was fugitive Gordon Kahl), `that they had killed the wrong
man'. Nor did I tell Mr. Matthews that his son's final mistake,
according to the evidence, was most likely his decision not to go
along with the cover-up of the murder."
Officer McLamb has continued to this day to try to force an
inquest into the facts through the courts and has met with
phenomenal resistance at all levels. The court moves to force
action was stalled in the court of one Judge Erwin who first
stated that until McLamb "shows him the state law that allows for
this, [a pro-se (without attorney) action] he will not review our
writ." Later after being shown much of the evidence of mis-deeds
in the case, Judge Irwin, "told us that if we could produce enough
signatures of `taxpayers' that wanted a Grand Jury called in this
case, he would call such a jury to investigate." I didn't know that
determination of prosecution was done by taxpayer petition. Later,
when taxpayers DID demand a Jury, this judge said it was "too
expensive."
Did you hear any of this on NBC? And do you suppose it was an
accident that Rod Steiger, on the National Committee of Handgun
Control Inc. played Gordon Kahl in the production? Is this to be
our fate? Because we believe in the sanctity of the Second
Amendment, in honesty and morality are we soon to be hounded and
persecuted to the point that we must fight back to defend ourselves
and the original intent of the Bill of Rights? If those in
government succeed in their quest to deny us our firearms, how many
of us will meekly hand over their firearms to the authorities? How
many of us will nevertheless be gunned down by police as we do it?
How many righteous police officers will likewise be killed because
they too refuse to take part in murder.
