TOTAL RIGHTS BAN...

     So far the bill (S. 2913) to ban private ownership of firearms
in America, introduced by Sen. John Chafee (R-RI) has two
co-sponsors.  One co-sponsor is Sen Alan Cranston (D-CA).  Chafee
is bragging he will soon have a dozen more very soon.  The bill
bans the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, purchase,
transfer, receipt, possession or transportation of handguns or
handgun ammunition.  Naturally those in power or under their direct
control (military & police) are excepted.
     Sen. R. Smith (R-NH) read a Washington Post story into the
record, reporting the theft of 40 guns from a secure police vault.
Smith noted that police are excepted by the Bill.  33 of the stolen
guns are still in criminal hands.
