THIS IS IMPORTANT...
There are just a few months until the November election and
we want to say a few words about the importance of being a
political volunteer.
You all are aware of how our PAC gives money to pro-gun
political candidates. But think about this: In the recent race for
Columbus Mayor campaign war chests ran to a million dollars! A
couple of hundred bucks from PRO isn't going to make a ripple in
that ocean of money!
But in politics there are some things money can't buy. Sure
money buys advertising but the candidates don't really want money
what they really want is votes. Money is just one way (a rather
inefficient one at that) to get votes.
But let's face it, we really don't have the membership or
influence to deliver the numbers that will get the attention of
major candidates. We can shift the tide in close elections but the
influence of just our votes is not great enough to turn a sure loss
around.
BUT we do have something that CAN be a major force in every
election. Something that is potentially powerful enough to get the
attention of even major candidates. Something with enough
influence to keep them voting our way even after they are elected.
LISTEN TO THIS BECAUSE THIS IS IMPORTANT: I am talking about the
volunteer WORK-POWER of the PRO membership.
Now I am just one vote, but when I go out and distribute
campaign literature for a couple of hours some morning my vote
multiplies by the hundreds. I may give a dollar to our PAC, but if
I go stuff fundraising envelopes for a candidate, my dollar
multiples by thousands. For a candidate, this is the kind of help
money can't buy.
Even at our present poor level of performance where we turn
out 10 or 15 persons for a lit drop or mail stuffing we easily
exceeded the volunteers turned out by the Republican party itself!
We want every PRO member to consider it a duty to put in at least
a couple of hours in each election. If you can do more so much the
better. Do this and a major "party" machine can then be made
available to pro-gun candidates be they Republican, Democrat,
Libertarian or other. And then we can really kick some butt.
