i'm told to move everything (i.e. DOS, drivers, TSRs etc) out of conventional memory into high memory to optimise memory. how does this help, don't they just use other bits of memory? Also, how do i recognise a TSR file or a driver file? thanks in advance! jeffk@newscientist.net

Yes. The issue is pertient almost exclusively to DOS programs, which can only use conventional memory. If you can move things out of conventional memory, then there's more memory for DOS programs to use. If you don't run DOS programs, or those that you do use don't complain about having insufficient memory, then there's no issue at all, and there's no need to "move everything (i.e. DOS, drivers, TSRs etc) out of conventional memory into high memory." -- Ken Blake Please reply to the newsgroup. > Also, how do i recognise a TSR file or a driver file? > thanks in advance! > jeffk@newscientist.net > >
