Application Engineer - GIS Canada



Location: Toronto, Canada



Position Summary

Responsible for creating, developing and presenting technical strategies and
product demonstrations; preparing events; performing system installations as
related to the Autodesk GIS suite of products and applications. Responds to
Canadian Business Development and Sales Team and customer inquiries related
to system software and application. Provides software development and
consultation to potential users.



Responsibilities

Creates Customer sales proposals and demo that include complex systems
integration and have impact on GIS wide implementations.

Work in partnership with the Business Development Team to ensure best
technical solutions in industry-specific sales presentations.

Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of Autodesk GIS, Location Services
and Design Server products and services.

Maintain detailed understanding of the competitive product capabilities and
trends.



Requirements

Ideally 5+ years experience in the Telecommunication, Public Utilities
and/or Government market or related industry, primarily as a systems
integrator or applications engineer

Excellent sales presentation skills

Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills in
English. French concerned an asset.

Technical or related degree required.

The position requires regular overnight and extended periods of travel.



Desired Knowledge/Skills

General Knowledge Autodesk GIS, Location Sevices products

Software development expertise and knowledge of relevant software languages
and database technologies such as: Visual Basic, C/C++, Oracle PL/SQL,
HTML/DHTML, Cold Fusion,

Client/Server and Application Architecture knowledge such as: UNIX and NT
Operating Systems, Java, Java Script, Data Conversion/Migration,

Knowledge of Web-based technology, including: but not limited to XML, XSP,
Java, JSP, Servlets, JavaScript, HTTP,

Experience in Customer Application engineering, deployment and management.



Work Experience

Must be very knowledgeable with Oracle Spatial 8i and SQL+

Must have an understanding and be able to apply UML standards

Strong knowledge of UNIX, Windows Platforms (NT, 2000, 9x)

Strong knowledge of Internet technologies (HTML, JavaScript, XML, etc.)

Strong knowledge of VB, Windows API's

Understanding of Object Oriented principles

Understanding of utility, communications, and/or government markets
