I am a student at a university that tends to be a bit more expensive than most institutes of higher learning in America (especially state schools). I am trying very hard to get enough money to stay in school, but I'm going to make it. Instead of coming hat in hand to people on Usenet, go to see your financial aid officer at school, and tell him/her that you need a better package. Tell them you need an emergency load, tell them you need a workstudy job. There are lots of programs at the state and federal levels of government that will help you get money for school (no matter what the Democrats say, we Republicans are NOT trying to end financial aid, just make it more responsible). If you can't get any federal aid at all (this would be a real surprise to me) call your congressman/senator, and get them on the case. These guys love doing constituent casework, especially if they are up for election this year. The best thing you can do is get yourself declared an independant student. I'm an independant student, and between the one loan that I have, and grants from both the federal government and the university, I only pay about 1/5 the full tuition cost here.
