I'm truely sorry that you hear that.  But . . .

If this is what you got from my posting, you were in the minority (at
least judging by the e-mails I got, you were).

If Public Universities are such a good deal, how come you're expending
so much effort in an attempt to go to a private one (I believe you
said it was Yale, no?)?  There a LOTS of Public universities around.


Also, You are the one who's tired of "these private university knobs."
One correction, however . . . . WAY back (in the late Neanderthal
period) when I was IN a private University, I did know some people
(fortunately, FEW people) who felt superior, and refused to associate
with plebians who went to "public" universities.  They refused to
associate BECAUSE they felt superior (and really WERE snobs).  They
didn't feel superior BECAUSE they didn't associate.  You've got it
bass-ackwards . . .

I'm very sorry that you missed the intended humor, and missed the
direction that so many others could see clearly.  It is unfortunate
that inflection, and the intimacy of the facial expression cannot be
clearly expressed in this medium.  But you seem to have singularly
misread my intentions.  

Well . . . in your defense, not quite SINGULARLY.  You are not
COMPLETELY alone.  Of the 7 e-mail responses, and 1 Newsgroup
responses I've received, there was ONE other person who misunderstood.
I will not reveal his name, but here is the entire text of HIS e-mail

Pretty impressive, no?  I think you can see why I would refrain from
printing his name . . . 

Other than you two, the OVERWHELMING majority have responded
positively, and agreed that the original poster was a flake, fraud,
