I managed to surpass the "No Mass Storage Device Found" fatal error when installing NT4.0 on my PowerEdge 2300 (see furtherdown in this newsgroup for the solution). Now after installing NT fully (up and running as a BDC), how do I make NT recognize the SCSI DDS-3 DAT-device ? Comes up when booting Python etc. etc.), settings in SCSI-Utility appear to be ok too. What's the hot tip this time to make it appear under NT? Thanks! Morris :-)

You can see it when U use the backup util... but you can't in your explorer screen. -- Grtz, MrCyber Umma Gumma <haveacigar@hotmail.com> wrote in message 6qpunc$qn5$1@pascal.a2000.nl... >I managed to surpass the "No Mass Storage Device Found" fatal error when >installing NT4.0 on my PowerEdge 2300 (see furtherdown in this newsgroup for >the solution). Then check if de DAT-drive is available below thge SCI-device. If this is all so .. well your backup program should work. If not ... first just install scsi -drivers succes, -- JAn Wilelm PS. Seeing u DAT at boottime doesn't say a thing. It;'s nice that's all

That one did it! Under tape devices NT noticed no driver had been installed and it detected the proper one. It came up under my Back Up util after that, although it still didn't work due to mechanical problems (tape device doesn't wind the tape). So Dell will replace the device tomorrow after all. Thanks for all your suggestions! Morris :-)
