Actually, it shouldn't take you any longer than it does now.  You can
have a background shell script that collects the files from a directory
and posts them every few minutes.  All you do is save your articles to
the directory, make sure they have the proper headers, and run the
shell script in the background.

I do this all the time for "bulk" e-mailing to universities.  We must
periodically send mail to all 1000 schools in our database (the Official
MBA Guide at http://unicorn.us.com/guide).  I don't want to clog up
Rahul's mail server, and the mail is not so urgent it needs to get
sent all at once, so I have each message saved to a directly and run a
script to send one every 10 seconds.  I have it run as a cron job every
morning, so I don't even have to run the script manually.  And if the
script is run on an empty directly, it simply terminates.

The script is takes all files in my www/guide/main/mail directory ending
in .txt and sends them, deleting each one as it goes:

    nice -10 /usr/lib/sendmail -oi -t < $m
    sleep 10
    rm -f $m

I believe you can replace the sendmail command with inews to post
instead of mail, assuming the files have the proper headers.  And change
"sleep 10" to "sleep 300" to send every 5 minutes.
