Pine 3 on FreeBSD?

Could we get a version of Pine 3.x on the FreeBSD machines? Pine 4 is a real
pain; it puts garbage in my mbox, and crashes as often as not. (There's a
workaround for the former, though it's ill-behaved by default; but I haven't
found a fix for the crashes.) Waltz has four versions of Pine 3.x; I'd
settle for any one of them.

This problem is being investigated. It might be a file locking issue,
and it might affect software other than pine. To minimize the potential
problem, until we fix it, please avoid accessing your mail from multiple
locations. For best reliability, either always use POP, or always use a
mail reader from SunOS, or always use a mail reader from FreebSD, and
avoid switching between them.

I've been switching between POP and SunOS/Pine3 for five years, so I don't
think it's that; it's either FreeBSD, Pine4, or a recent change. (FWIW,
the "header inconsistent" crash didn't happen the one time I recently
switched back to SunOS/Pine3. Eudora/POP did fail to retrieve a message
in my mbox until I changed the UID by hand, but that could have been due
to earlier access via FreeBSD/Pine4.)
