While I see the concerns as real. Somehow I smell the smoke of a TROLL under this bridge. Anyone answering this should realize there is no good answer to the question. Perhaps the sender should decide for themselves & act appropriately. If you're that worried, you should care enough to act. <ed@scredco.net> wrote in message news:375d7498.13433286@news.cadvision.com... : I am a pro gun owner, so don't get this message wrong. Recently, : however, a friend of mine divorced his wife. His wife owns a few : guns and practices (legal) firing in the basement. These people : have three wonderful kids. : : My concern is this. Both the person and his wife are nice people : but they drink and smoke marijauna often. If the wife were to : become depressed after the divorce, drink and smoke up a lot, and : one day figure her kids have no future, might this not affect her : judgement? : : Neither the husband nor wife are violent, and I believe they have a : "right" to own guns, but the fact that this person obtained all of : the guns in the LAST YEAR is of concern. : : Another concern is that depression tends to take quite a toll on : people, and people who take drugs and liquor regularly tend to do so : because "everyday life" is too difficult to cope with without some : degree of mind alteration. In this case, everyday life, at least : for the mother, will become much more complicated. : : My question is this: Why isn't there a question, anywhere on the : gun form, about how often people take drugs and/or liquor, what : kinds they take, and how often and how much? The form asks only : about "prescribed" drugs. : : Can any drunk person or drug user qualify for a gun as long as he : hasn't been convicted? : : As any woman who has divorced knows, a woman with three kids, : suddenly on her own, and without much education is headed for a few : years of extreme depression.
