:-) FINALLY! A Software Developer professional association for
              Edmonton!

:-) Free & Easy! No Board, no membership fees, no problems!

:-) You are invited to join, no cost!

SDN's GOALS:
1. Enhance your development capabilities and increase your value to
your
   organization.
2. Enable you to develop new relationships with other software
development and learn from each other.
3. Contribute to improving our local industry and open doors to
business
   and investment opportunities.

WHAT WE DO:
The Software Developers Network tries to have monthly meetings. At
the
meetings, there will be introductions of members, time for
networking/schmoozing, and one or two featured presenters.
Presentation
topics, based on feedback and suggestions, will be roughly equally
divided on technical and business issues for software developers.
There
will also be announcements of interest to the local software
industry/community (bring yours!).

Economic Development Edmonton (EDE) promotes and facilitates the
organization of the club and its events.

SDN STRUCTURE:
The plan for the SDN is to keep it informal and loosely structured.
Currently, there is no need for a board of directors, committees, etc.
when all software people really need is to get to know each other and
learn some interesting stuff. Besides, Board meetings are too boring!

SDN GROWTH:
Please tell your friends in the industry about the SDN. The more
people
we get, the more it will benefit you.

PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT:
By participating in SDN events/meetings, you have excellent
opportunity
to meet others in your profession and share ideas and technology, thus
further improving your value as a developer.

Featured presentations at each meeting will expand your already vastly
superior knowledge ;-) of the technical aspects of software
development,
as well as the business end of things.

Meetings will also feature announcements of pertinent events/news of
interest to the software development community. (ie: user group
meetings, IT events, co-op employment programs, etc.) Bring yours (1
-
2 paragraphs max).

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT and INVESTMENT:
Software Developers are often too busy to network with the business
community or market their companies to anyone other than purchasers of
their product. This results in their companies being virtually
unknown
to the business community and general public. Even worse, the
investment community never hears about them.

A key advantage to participation in the Software Developers Network is
'exposing' your company to other developers and the business
community.
We do this by telling the business world about the SDN, and
occasionally
inviting strategic business and investment professionals to present or
attend at our meetings. In addition, once we have 'found' the
majority
of the software development companies in the Edmonton region, we will
showcase this industry to the community through various publications
and/or events.

Your dreams of becoming financially successful start becoming reality
when the people with the money and business contacts become aware of
the
region's strong software development industry, and more importantly,
your company.

HELPING YOU WITH "THE 'M' WORD":
Marketing software products or services can be difficult, especially
when your company goes beyond the stage of meeting the needs of one or
a
few particular clients.

The SDN will bring you regular information and expert presentations on
what to do, and what not to do, to help market not only your
product/service to potential customers, but also your business as a
whole to investors.
