What is Qtrain.net?

Qtrain.net is the on-line training arm of Quantum Training and Development
Ltd., a Canadian-based and privately held Information Technology training
and consulting company.

What is XML? "XML is going to be as big as the Web itself."
                                                -Eckart Walther, Netscape
Product Manager

XML can be best referred to as the user-friendly version of SGML, while at
the same time having more technical flexibility than HTML. SGML is the
grandfather of all markup languages, however it is little used due to its
complexity. HTML is the standard mark-up language but is restricted in
technical capacity. XML is used for the creation, display and management
of documents, information and data in any format or platform, internet based
or not. It has powerful applications for the publishing industry, banking,
e-commerce, insurance and countless other industries which manage large
amounts of data or information. The XML standard has been adopted by every
major corporate Internet player including Microsoft, Sun Microsystems,
Oracle, IBM, Netscape, Corel, Yahoo, Nortel, among many, many others.

What is XML Comprehensive?

XML Comprehensive is the first training product to be launched on Qtrain.net
and the first truly interactive on-line XML course on the Internet. It is
designed to guide participants from the basics of eXtensible Markup Language
(XML) to an intermediate level. Participants will learn how to define their
own XML-based markup language, including the creation of a Document Type
Definition (DTD). Coverage also includes a module on the XML Linking
Language (XLink), the standard for linking XML documents that permits a much
more robust type of hyperlink than HTML, and the XML Style Language (XSL),
which allows style information to be assigned to XML markup elements. XML
Comprehensive will also cover more advanced features of XML such as:
namespaces, schemas, etc. The course utilizes several interactive tools such
as Active Server Pages, audio streaming, XML Chat, and XML Help Email.
Included in the course are quizzes at the end of each lesson and tests at
the end of every module. A certificate will be provided upon passing the
practical and theoretical final exam.

Availability and Future Products

XML Comprehensive is to be launched today, January 27, 2000. Other
subsequent on-line XML courses are currently in development: XML Advanced
I; XML Advanced II; XML for IT Managers; XML for Java Programmers.

Feb 1, 2000

FREDERICTON, CANADA (CNB) -- Quantum Training & Development Ltd., a leading
provider of corporate and diploma training, is taking advantage of the surge
of innovative applications and developments in XML. The Canadian-based
company today launch the first-ever comprehensive and truly interactive
online XML training course.

The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a data format originally designed
for structured document interchange on the Web. XML is designed to make it
easy and straightforward to use SGML on the Web, while at the same time
improving known weaknesses of SGML and HTML.

XML is becoming the development standard of the future. Many sectors of the
industry such as vendors and industry groups are building XML standards for
business to business or other E-commerce functions.

Company president Shawn Perry says the widespread growth of XML applications
is increasing the demand for people skilled in XML. "We noticed the trend
about a year ago and quickly realized it's enormous market," said Perry.
"Our course is tailored to computer programmers, web designer

and online courseware developers who are using this technology, so it's a
large segment of the industry."

The 40 to 50 hour custom-made course will feature chat rooms, streaming
audio, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), online assistance as well as
evaluation. Not only is the course for students to learn XML, but it is
also developed in XML. "We feel it is important to walk the walk when it
comes to this emerging technology", said Perry

Quantum has also secured alliances with training portals such as
U-Online.net TrainingNet.com, and TrainSeek.com in order to increase market
penetration.

The company's research has identified market acceptance of the XML standard
by most every major corporate Internet players such as Microsoft, Sun
Microsystems, Oracle, IBM, Corel, Yahoo, and Nortel Networks.

Perry says this is just the first offering in XML and his company is already
