I thought MS abandoned J++ and are now working on "COOL" instead?

Last I heard Java is now very fast, for server side anyway. C++ may
be today but Java is tomorrow. It has been speculated that
Transmeta's Crusoe chip may employ a Java VM for the translation
layer. If this is the case Java apps could have the same performance
as other apps.

Delphi (Object Pascal) is actually a somewhat better handler of
references to types and pointers than C++.

You can do this in Delphi as well.

Writing to BIOS interupts is from the old days of DOS and Turbo
Pascal/Borland Pascal was actually easier to use for this than C++
was.

Delphi has built-in assembler too.

Admittedly, if you are writing device drivers C++ would be a better
choice. That is the only reason I would ever use C++. You could use
Delphi but C++ would be a lot easier.

Any tool lets you use Win32 API calls, even VB. MFC is an utter
abomination, Delphi's VCL is far far easier to work with.

Thanks.
