``Groupthink has been launched as a focal point for fostering the
improvement in how meetings happen in organizations,'' commented Mark
Mullaly, President of Groupthink Inc. ``Companies spend literally
millions of dollars a year on meetings. Face to face communication is
a critical skill, yet most meetings are incredibly unfocussed and
inefficient. Grouputer is a cost-effective, affordable tool that has
been proven to increase meeting productivity by up to 500%.''
Groupware, or Group Decision Support Systems, completely reinvent the
process of meetings. Instead of the common barriers introduced by
politics, interpersonal communication styles and hierarchies, every
participant has equal opportunity to participate in a structured,
facilitated environment. Creativity and productivity is maximized in
an environment that not only allows, but also encourages, the best
ideas to rise to the surface, regardless of their source.
``A key success factor for today's organizations is the ability to
accelerate decision making and communication right across the
enterprise. Grouputer is one of the emerging Knowledge Management
tools that enables organizations to rapidly create, deploy and re-use
knowledge to sustaincompetitive advantage,'' Anne Hudson, president of
Grouputer Solutions said.
Participants in a groupware meeting participate through keyboards, in
a face-to-face environment. While conversation is still encouraged,
ideas are captured on-line and `sent' to a common team space, where
they can be
reviewed, analyzed and further deconstructed. Not only can everybody
participate simultaneously, but the act of contributing ideas to a
central space results in the inspiration for further ideas, resulting
in more creative and effective meeting outcomes. Because everything is
captured, meetings are self- documenting. Participants can walk out of
the meeting with the full results of exactly what was said during the
session, instantly.
``To explain the idea of an on-line meeting to someone who has not
experienced its power can be challenging'', Mullaly remarked. ``But
everyone who participates in a meeting using groupware technology is
amazed by not just the speed but also the quality of the results.
Groupware meetings have no parallel.''
Grouputer offers a number of key advantages to organizations looking
to improve the creativity, productivity and effectiveness of their
meetings. Unlike other groupware technologies available today, which
require complex computer networks and dedicated decision support
rooms, the Grouputer system runs off a single computer and allows up
to 12 people to participate concurrently. ``The strength of the
Grouputer system is its flexibility,'' continued Mullaly. ``In less
than 15 minutes, a meeting room, conference room or office can be
turned into a powerful meeting environment. We are incredibly excited
by this relationship with Grouputer, and what it offers to companies
in North America.''
To date, the installed base has predominantly been in the Australian
marketplace, with the product having been deployed in numerous
corporations, consulting firms, government agencies and educational
institutions. The relationship announced today between Groupthink and
Grouputer Solutions creates a North American distribution base to make
the Grouputer system available to end-user organizations, as well as
enabling companies to enter a dealer relationship with Groupthink to
resell the product as part of their customer offering.
``Our relationship with Groupthink enables our traditional customer
base of Fortune 500 companies to adopt the technology with a high
level of confidence. We are very pleased with the appointment.''
