ACS NSW Branch Elections

I am a candidate in the election for the 1997 ACS NSW Branch
Executive which will be held on Tuesday, 26 November. I am standing
essentially as a single-issue candidate, and that issue is
communication. Ever since my first involvement with ACS, I have
heard members complain that ACS (meaning the various offices and
committees) do not tell the ordinary members what is going on, that
members' voices are not heard, that members feel isolated rather
than part of a community, and that nobody outside ACS knows what the
Society is or does.

Lots of good arguments can be made as to why none of these statements
are true, but perception is reality in this case. All are issues of
communication, and I believe that ACS needs to change and improve its
communication, both internally and with the rest of the world. Some
of my thoughts on this are set out at
