Here's the latest in the rapidly evolving CKUA situation:

- we had about 1,000 show up at the rally last night here in
Calgary - what a great crowd! Lots of artists and performers.

- hosted by Cam Hayden and Daphne Bain, with Terry David Mulligan
(who just went through a funeral for his father a day ago and who
now has a terrible cold - what a trouper!)

- new organization arose called "Save Alberta Public Radio
Foundation" - $10 membership and pledges taken

- material assets are on hold, although all locks at station have
been changed

- CRTC licenses in danger of expiring soon

- Holger Peterson and band leader Tommy Banks will front a
"shadow" board of governors

- Premier Klein was on CBC today - was totally blown away by our
mail/fax/phone barrage - "I didn't know so many people listened
to CKUA," he said.

- new cabinet sworn in today - first item on new minister Iris
Evans's agenda was ordering a full audit of CKUA down to the
pencils and paperclips

- current chair of Board (Gail Hinchcliffe) still hasn't resigned
and cannot seem to located

- only one other member of Board is even known to the public
(Larry Klaussen) and he has disappeared - nobody knows who the
other PC appointees are

- fact came out that she had appropriated 10% of CKUA's budget
for herself and one other board member

- Tories are said to be highly embarrassed by her

- Bill Maclaughlin emailed me again to say that all sorts of
groups are coming forward to offer support
