Just found out recently from the guys at Experts Exchange that Typereader has a very good core engine they claim it works "superbly better than all the others -- we scanned OLD books with unusual fonts in 2-3 column format, and everything else failed dismally, but Typereader proved that its recognition is superior to all the rest"

Also another guy claims that abbyy fine reader is also excellent.

Have not tried either one yet, may do so in the future, if no more Capture updates come out that improve the OCR engine.
