Brenda, You don't have to purchase anything additional. If you are unable to certify the reader there may be a few different causes. Make sure you are not behind a 'firewall', which is most likely if you are in a workplace, less likely for a home user. Ensure that you have turned off anti-virus checkers and other things running in the background. Make sure you have allowed cookies in your browser (this is the default so if you have not changed it don't worry.) You only need to update the PACE drivers if you find that Windows XP is rebooting after you certify.
