My Mac under OS X 10.5.6, stops during a Startup sayiug IOKitWait has an error of some sort related to the Public Folder. After pausing for 5 minutes, giving me a Blue Screen while doing so, it continues on and boots normally. This is the actual message where it pauses:

Mar 27 15:29:18 Moonstone-Art-Studio /System/Library/CoreServices/
coreservicesd[43]: SFLSharePointsEntry::CreateDSRecord:
dsCreateRecordAndOpen(Moonstone Art Studio's Public Folder) returned
-14135
Mar 27 15:34:04 Moonstone-Art-Studio SystemStarter[16]:
IOKitWaitQuiet: -536870186
Mar 27 15:34:04 Moonstone-Art-Studio DeltaHelper[142]: Delta Helper is
starting up

I believe this is the Shared folder in my User account?

Is this pause related to the folder "Adobe PDF 6.0" being in there? Maybe outdated for OS X 10.5.6?

Did it get there because I'm running Adobe Acrobat 6 Pro on my Mac?

Solutions?

You need the shared folder (for some reason, some people don't have
them) and its permissions have to be set appropriately.

The permissions are:

system Read & Write
wheel Read & Write
everyone Read & Write

Any experience running Acrobat Pro 6 under 10.5.6?

Other CS programs causing system issues under 10.5.6?

Thanks

Have you tried fixing permissions? Have you tried a different user?

Yes ... Repaired from installation DVD ... and in Single User Mode using AppleJack.

I'm not sure if this is causing my issue, just hazarding a guess.

Is this the "user Public Folder" that the error message is referring to?
"...(Moonstone Art Studio's Public Folder) returned -14135"

That is where my system sometimes stops for 5 minutes, waiting for something. I thought if its the Shared > Adobe PDF 6.0 area, I might could get s grip on how to solve the pause.

I'm also assuming it is an error message ...

No it is the User/Shared folder.

Well ... that's what I meant Leopard-10.5 > Users > Shared.

A OS X techy told me nothing should be in the Users > Shared folder, and to get rid of the Adobe PDF 6.0 things. As an experiment, I did, but when I start up Acrobat 6.0.6 Professional, it puts it back in there.

Its in the same Users > Shared folder on my Tiger 10.4.11 machine, too.

Now I don't think its causing me my Startup issues. I'm still getting:
Mar 27 15:29:18 Moonstone-Art-Studio /System/Library/CoreServices/
coreservicesd[43]: SFLSharePointsEntry::CreateDSRecord:
dsCreateRecordAndOpen(Moonstone Art Studio's Public Folder) returned
-14135

I think my problems was coming from Bonjour technologies, which shows up in iTunes, Printers, File Sharing, etc. It might have something to do with PDF Printers or something such thing.

Much of it has cleared up after going into iTunes and turning off searches for iPods, iTV whatevers. I might need to turn off Search for Shared Libraries, too.

Thanks.

Acrobat 6 was basically a port of 5.05/5.5 from OS9 to OSX. I would be surprised to find Acrobat 6 to even be compatible with OX.5. When I barely worked on OSX.2.8. The acrobat 6 version simply didn't work and in order to use you had to set to save in acrobat 5 format. Only when they came out with Acrobat 7 did they actually have a genuine usable Product. (My experience with 6)

Finally Back Again ... Paste:

Thanks. I've had relatively good luck with the little I've done with Acrobat Pro 6.0.6.

Create pdfs from multiple files, reduce file sizes, etc. Not too extensive.

Only under Tiger 10.4.11 and now trying some of it under Leopard 10.5.6. Seemed to work for small jobs.

If Adobe hears about it, I expect they'll throw something into the mix, to break it, to try and make us buy more (a bit pessimistic, I know).

I have no more to spend on Adobe products, Leopard 10.5.6 is probably my last Mac OS X for a good while. I am trying CS on both my machines.

Hate to be so negative about Adobe, but have you tried to get past the alternative ID and PW they're getting us to do? I've done it, but it keeps coming up. Annoying.

Like trying to keep up with the OS X ... when you can't afford $4-500 every few years on what's a great package ... just not feasible for me.
