Greetings, I've just built a big rich-media pdf on my Mac (acrobat 9 Pro), checked it twice, runs fine here from a DVD disc. Checked it on several friends' PCs running Vista and Reader 9, comes up "damaged couldn't be repaired," running from the disc or the desktop. Could file size be an issue? The pdf is almost 3Gs; I noticed that I couldn't optimize it for earlier versions down to 6, didn't yet try going back only to 7 or 8. But then it was Reader 9 that didn't like it on those PCs. Pulling my hair out, ANY ideas very much appreciated! dpc

What format is the disk? Vista and XP can handle large files. It could also have something to do with that type of DVD you burned as well as the quality of the burn. Just like the early days of CDs, I've seen DVDs that work on some machines that are unreadable on others. Mike

Actually I don't know about the disk; it's a printable one with no info, but there were several other files on it that worked fine, one a small pdf which reader opened, and a .txt file which also opened fine in whatever opens these on the PCs. Thanks! dpc

Another point: There's a bunch of video clips embedded, each in two renditions: .mov and .avi, intending to allow non-Mac users to watch without QuickTime. Can't see why that would create a problem with the file opening, but I've never tried it before, either๏ฟฝ? dpc

How are you transferring the file? It could be getting corrupted during transfer.

Sorry, what do you mean by "transferring"? The files are on a DVD-ROM disc; it's the same files/disc in each test situation/computer. The large file works on Macs, not on PCs; the smaller ones work everywhere.
