Your mistake was opening the file in Digital Editions. If you want to read DRMed PDF books on your mobile device, you need to stick with Adobe Reader 7.0 (and use it exclusively) until Digital Editions has been updated to accommodate mobile devices. I don't think there is anything you can do to fix your current situation with this PDF book, but to avoid this problem with any future books you get, remove Digital Editions from your computer and stick with Adobe Reader 7.0...or abandon DRMed PDF ebooks altogether and find the book in another format (I, personally, avoid purchasing DRMed PDF ebooks for this reason).
