setting default reader

I am using Adobe Reader 8 (free) and I also have acrobat 5 standard.  When I 
go to a web site and try to read a pdf file it says It cannot read it.  If I 
open the reader then it will use that to read the file.  I want to default 
to the reader and not acrobat 5.  I seldom use the standard except when 
converting a Word file to pdf for the  web.
