No, Jean, I still haven't been able to open my reader.  The program goes thru all the normal gyrations, credits etc. then I get the following message: 

"Acrobat Reader 5.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience." 

I click to see what the error message contains: 

AppName: acrord32.exe  AppVer:5.05.425 ModName: unknown  ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset:  20202020 

Thne the typical information that will be sent to Microsoft... 

I click ok and the program startup shuts down.  I have gone into the program properties to see if I can find any settings to change, but haven't come up with any combination that works. 

Jean, Tom, Claudio, anyone, I would love any suggestions! I have uninstalled and reinstalled til I'm blue in the face!  Still at a loss - it was working just fine until a couple of months ago , when for no reason it started doing this (I had not made any changes in the program or my OS at that point!)
