Forms: Acrobat 4 and 8

Currently an Acrobat 4 business user, I need to ask a basic question
or two, or at least confirm some things regarding our adopting 8 in
some processes...
In two separate internal business process we currently use Acrobat 4
to fill out PDF forms, progressively by multiple users throughout the
process / form's life-cycle.

I see many advantages to upgrading to Acrobat 8 as we've a need to
use, for instance, the automated PDF creation and archiving features
for documents created in various applications for another, separate
process.

Anyway, while you can 'fill out' (Acrobat 8 based only I'd imagine)
forms using Reader 8, you can only hardcopy print them, not save them
as form records which could then be edited to by other users using
only Reader 8. Perhaps to confirm the obvious, like within our
current 'Acrobat 4 processes', full seats of Acrobat 8 would be
required, correct?

Regarding that, to keep those processes up and running without
upgrading them to 8(cost is a concern, as I can't upgrade from 4)I'd
likely have to keep Acrobat 8, well,...away from any forms used in
those two processes, or could some users participate in processing the
form records using 8 and some with 4, upstream and downstream?

I hope this is clear
