I ceated several pdfs of images on a HP scanner. I can open these with
Adobe Acrobat 9, but not with Reader 9 - just a blank gray page
appears. I tried making the pdf compatible (by the pdf Optimizer) with
Acrobat 9, but this didn't do any good. Any suggestions on how to make
the pdfs readable with Reader 9?

Current readers should read PDFs created with earlier
versions. A picture doesn't require any newer coding, so
try creating the PDF compatible with V5 or V6.

Are you "printing to PDF" to create the file?
