ExtendScript Dialogs in After Effects?

Using AE7 Pro.

I'm trying to write a script to ask the user for a number and then use that number as a variable in the rest of the script.

I have been reading the ExtendScript docs and used the ScriptUI classes to make a very simple little dialog. When I run my code in ExtendScript Toolkit, it opens my dialog and looks swell.

However when I try to run it under AfterEffects, I get my dialog, but the Panel isn't there and my Edit Text box and OK button are both on top of each other.

Does AE not really support using ScriptUI to make little interfaces, or is there some other way I can pop up a dialog to get a number of the user?

Well, nevermind, maybe - I just found a note in the After Effects scripting guide:

NOTE: After Effects does not support customization of the automatic layout feature of ScriptUI.

I'm not sure what the 'customization' bit means, but I am using the flexible layout method. I guess I'll try with static positioning.

Hey Bob,

I've been doing a lot of scripting AE lately. It does work. You just have to lay things out manually. A PITA, but whatever.
