Invalid Font File message on Windows XP

I recently downloaded and installed the latest version of ATM 4.1 Deluxe to a Windows 98 Second Edition workstation and began getting a Invalid Font File message similar to one described in this forum regarding Windows 2000 machines. Interestingly, I have the same version (4.1) of ATM running on a Win98SE machine 5 feet from this one that will open the same fonts without difficulty. This machine's ATM version is the same, but it may be a slightly different build. Looking at the splash screen, it shows up as 4.11 Build 243 on Win98 'old' and as 5.1 build 225 on Win98 'new'. I recently reformatted the 'new' Win98 machine and installed XP Professional. Reinstalling ATM to the new OS changed nothing - some fonts fail, others work and no pattern is evident. I really need to solve this problem - I have a brand new 2 GHz P4/1GB RAM machine that is useless relative to a 600MHz P3 with a properly working version of ATM. What gives?
