Is there a setting in the soundcard's control panel for reducing the latency? Trouble is, you can't get around the fact that applying effects in real time takes some CPU processing effort, and that introduces delay. Doesn't matter whether you do it by recording the effect or simply apply it on playback and mixdown. What you could perhaps do would be get the effect right, then turn it off while you play, and turn it back on for replay. But I appreciate that the performance is 'informed' by the sound of the effect. Hard to play like a screaming guitarist when it's just plinking.
