That's the story;

the place where I'm contracted for recording & editing is replacing the main recording PC (don't ask why, the one they have now works)

here's the issue;

no matter how much I've tried to get decent recordings on ASIO cards with AA2.0 it just doesn't happen (minimum of 20 - 25% of the time the file recorded is bad; full of dropouts or so low that boosting it produces a -15db noise floor)

so I'm researching and researching but can't get any solid info,
Here's what I need;

a decent quality sound card that comes with MME/WDM drivers and is not an ASIO Card
ie SB Live 10k which I have been using for the last 5 years with CE2000 & AA1.0 in a Dell Optiplex GX270 and have never had a recording with one dropout, I've had the whole machine crash due to other problems but no drop outs.

does anyone know of such cards that are still available
I've asked on the creative forums but no one knows.
