How do I: Modify the timbre of a voice?

Hey guys! I'm fairly new to adobe audition and sound editing in general, so please, bare with me here!

I'm not looking to do anything fancy, but i'm attempting to minipulate some voice recordings I have in a fairly basic way. I am by no means attempting to re-create anyones voice, I merely want to achieve some of the effects that voice masking software out there does.

I know how to use the pitch bender, and I've toyed with the Graphic Equalizer, but in order to really achieve the same results as what I'm after I need to be able to manipulate the timbre of the voice, as most voice masking software does.

However, I am unable to find a plugin that gives any control over timbre, unless I just don't know what i'm doing here - which I probably don't. So could anyone please point me in the right direction, or is audition not capable of doing this?

Thanks in advance!
