hi i have been having this problem where i record my voice and it's only picked up in the left channel. this is because i am using a shure sm58 mic and a good pre-amp. this means it's mono. in cool edit if you click the "rec 1" box (you will find this in the track, below the red box R, yellow box s, and green box m) and change it from stereo to let channel.

this means that it picks up sound only from the left channel, which is where your mic is coming from. so it gives it stereo. rather than the standard setting where you have it ticked as stereo, but it's only picking up the left hand side of stereo, which is upsetting.

this problem has caused me a lot of stress because i used to use this cheap stereo mic, you know the 10 kinda ones you get from argos, and although the sound quality was crap, it played in stereo. because good mics are mono, you just have to change the setting in cool edit to accommodate. i hope this sorts out your problem.
