I was able to get a mixdown in AA3.0.1 without using loopback on the external interface (FF800) by highlighting the whole section of the MT session that I wanted to mixdown, then choosing "Mixdown Master" (or whatever it's called). This created a stereo WAV of the MIDI tracks.

Further discussion of this should most likely be moved to the AA3 forum.
