How do you refresh the VST directory???
Unfortunately, you can't - you can only point Audition at a new VST directory - what's in it has to be placed there correctly eithe by you, or by a relatively simple installation program. What I think that Eric probably meant only in fact refers to the DX directory, which behaves in a different way. DX plugins have to be installed, and the OS has to know about them too. This is why you need to refresh Audition's list when you install a new one, otherwise it won't know that it's there. VST effects are effectively DLLs, and as long as Audition knows where they are installed, it can access them. And quite frankly, I don't think that any of this has anything in the slightest to do with your problem, and in fact it seems to be very unlikely indeed that it is even an Audition issue at all - I'm pretty certain that this is an OS issue, in fact.
