Oz has hit the nail on the head. You should purchase a dual-channel compressor and a mixer (if you don't already have one). The record output of the mixer should go to the compressor. The output of the compressor should then go to the PC soundcard input. That way your incoming signal is already line-levelled and should have the dynamics tamed. You said you were doing 4 tracks. What are the other tracks? You know you could also do a combination of compression and normalization to "master" your recordings before putting them on CD. Yes, I said "master" because that is what you are doing, in a basic sense. If you have time (other than the day you need to record) you should play around a bit with some compressor settings and normalization settings (I recommend that you compress first and then normalize). When you have a combination that works well for your needs you can save these as presets so when you do record the sermon and prep it for burning you can do a mixdown (choose Mixdown to Edit View, not to the CD burning). Then in Edit View you can apply your presets to the waveform and save it (I recommend saving it as another file name so you can save the original file as well for archiving purposes). This process you've set up for show day should take you no more than a few minutes, which should be acceptable (unless you're under an incredible deadline) and it should be easy.
