Very Loud Distorted Static noise when I try to record please help

my problem is that my adobe plays imported tracks very well but as soon as I press the record button there is an extremely loud static noise coming from the speaker

my computer sound card I believe is with realtek, I am using Adobe Audition 1.5 and my mixer is a lexicon/lambda

my mic and speakers are all hooked up to the lambda properly but everytime I try to record that loud sick noise occurs

I'm not sure if I have my device orders/properties hooked up correctly and I don't know in what combination I should use them to correspond with the lamda mixer

please help me
