Hello I have Adobe Audition 1.0. I also have Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop. The hard drive on my laptop failed last week. A new 320 GB drive has been installed and I am gradually re-loading my programmes. I re-installed Adobe Audition 1.0 last night. I use Adobe to edit mini disk recordings of audio lectures. I am playing a sound recording into Adobe from minidisk using the laptop's "line in" facility and a connecting cable. I am recording in Adobe on mono not stereo. For some reason the recording's wave form in Adobe is not in the centre of the screen. It is a centimetre or so below the horizontal red line. I do not know why this is. When I increase the recording level in Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices the wave drops further below the horizontal line. I am only able to bring the recording onto the horizontal centre line by dropping the recording level to almost zero. When this happens there is virtually no sound in Adobe. I did not have this problem prior to replacing the laptop's hard disk drive. Can anyone diagnose the problem? Thank you in anticipation. George
