Brooklyn,

      I have occasional printed 150-250PPI but anything less looks like garbage;
      cheap and poor quality.

How far away are the murals going to be seen?

I'm telling you 300 ppi is serious overkill unless they are meant to be read from about 18" away. I've done 10' tall 3-D tradeshow package mockups and large truck-side ads, all from 300 ppi graphics created at 1/6-1/12 scale. Sure, I've got visible pixels. But the resulting 25-50 ppi graphics (full size) look great at any normal viewing distance.

      Is that as simple as hooking up an external drive to my laptop or do I
      need to adjust settings on my computer to allocate it as extra scratch
      disk space?

Your scratch disk settings are in Photoshop prefs and are easy to figure out.

      I will try FontAgent Pro

If you have and use more than a handful or two of fonts, you should have a font manager to verify your fonts and activate just the ones you need without having to move around the fonts themselves. There is a free demo to download. Just make sure you deactivate your built-in Font Book -- the two font managers could clash with each other.

      I have not purchased or run disk warrior

Consider it part of your maintenance tool kit. It's idiot-proof to use and as valuable as Disk Utility. It fixes stuff the latter can't even touch.
