In OS X there are different folders where fonts which are managed by Font Book can be placed...

/System/Library/Fonts

/Library/Fonts

/User/Library/Fonts (one such folder for each user account)

The first of the three is for those fonts installed by the system, the second for fonts to be available to all accounts, and the third for fonts available only to the relevant user account.

When CS2 is installed a number of fonts are installed in

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts

Am I correct that if nothing else is done these fonts will be available only to the CS2 applications? It appears that if they are copied to one of the three aforementioned folders that they will be available to other applications other than those in CS2. If they are so copied can they be deleted from the CS2 application support folder? What about the Base and CMaps folders? Should they remain or should they be deleted?

As an aside, one of the niceties of Font Book for Tiger is that if a cluster of fonts are exported they will be gathered into folders, one folder for each family. These folders can then replace the exported fonts, the result being that it is possible to end up with a single font folder for each font family, each such folder containing all of the relevant parts for the contained font family. In my mind this makes font management much easier. Prior to Tiger I had to use FontAgent Pro to form such clusters.
