Hi, I tried to connect to my Version Cue server CS4 German version via Bridge and already installed all updates but I still cannot see the Version Cue server in my Adobe Drive Window. If I try to connect manually via <http://localhost:3703> I only get the message OK and nothing happens. I work with Mac G5 PPC, 4 GB RAM and Leopard. Version Cue CS3 was de-installed. My console tells me something like this: 09.01.09 20:13:10 [0x0-0x22022].com.adobe.drive.ConnectUI[218] Exception in thread "ConnectionHandler-15" java.lang.LinkageError: loader constraints violated when linking com/adobe/versioncue/nativecomm/msg/NCMap class 09.01.09 20:13:10 [0x0-0x22022].com.adobe.drive.ConnectUI[218] at com.adobe.csi.internal.ncomm.InvokeHandler.handle(InvokeHandler.java:65) 09.01.09 20:13:10 [0x0-0x22022].com.adobe.drive.ConnectUI[218] at com.adobe.versioncue.internal.nativecomm.host.ConnectionHandler.run(ConnectionHandler.java:136) 09.01.09 20:13:10 [0x0-0x22022].com.adobe.drive.ConnectUI[218] at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:613) Any ideas experts? Thanks Sabine

Hi Sabine, please go to preferences in Bridge and there to the Startup Scripts (Startskripte in German) section. Enable the "Adobe Version Cue CS4" script and restart Bridge. Now the script runs and will let you connect to the server via Drive. To connect the server you may use the context menu on the Desktop too. This will start Drive. But the versions capabilities in Bridge are only available via that enabled script . Markus

Sorry Markus, I did activate the Startupscripts and Adobe Drive is not the problem. So far everything works fine. But if I try to connect I get no opportunity to see the server. It does not show up in the Drive window. If I try to connect manually with the URL I have no real information why this does not work. Drive only shows "OK" and no server-connection is established. It simply does not work. I did try localhost, fixed IP and 127.0.0.1 No success to connect to the server. The server is up and running of course. So your idea did not solve the problem.

Hi Sabine, first my apologize because I did not read your post properly. Sees to be a very uncommon issue... Can you try to connect the server from another machine? If that would work, it may be a Drive issue. Any active firewall settings on your G5? Did you use the CS4 pre-release software? Please clean you Mac before using our GM builds though. <http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html> Another easy test would be to ZIP the CS4ServiceManager folder located at /User/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ and delete the original folder. Then try to connect again. It that will work, maybe your database was corrupted by anything. Hope that helps Markus

Hi Markus, I did install beta applications and test version before I installed my Master Collection. But I also did run the clean script before I installed the stuff. The other test to ZIP the CS4ServiceManager folder did have effect. Still I cannot connect to my server. The other computer my MacBook could find the server and connect to it with Adobe Drive. So it seems to be a problem on the ppc-Mac. Adobe Drive does not work on machines without intel-cpu I think. But thanks anyway.

Hi Sabine, that is not true. Under normal circumstances Adobe Drive will run on G4, G5 and IntelMacs. I did run Adobe Drive a few days ago on an iBook G4 933 - worked fine though. So, it seems that something disrupts the connection on your G5. DID you delete the original CS4ServiceManager folder after zipping it? No Firewall settings (located at system preferences > security on Leopard. Markus

Hi Markus, I deleted the CS4ServerManager folder of course. And no firewall settings. Everything is allowed. But if you say it has to work I believe it. So I deleted Adobe Drive and installed it with Illustrator new. The version tells me 4.0.1 and now the window after starting the application shows al Window without text so I cannot tell if it really is a German version. If I click on the Version Cue Server icon it obviously tries to find the server and then nothing more happens. The problem is a problem with the Adobe Drive User Interface which cannot be displayed and used. Can this be a OSX java problem? Still hoping I can solve the problem.

Hi Sabine, may I contact you directly? If you agree (and only if you agree!) I can get your mail address out of our forum data base and we maybe can solve the issue. Thanks for any response. Markus

Hi Markus, I did some work so maybe you have another idea. I tried to install Version Cue on my MacBook. Everything works fine there. Adobe Drive tells me it is version 4.0.1.095. After insalling all upates for Drive and Version Cue I could connect to the local server on my MacBook. And believe it or not, I could connect to the server on my G5. So I tried to copy the application Adobe Drive and the CS4Server Manger folder to my G5. After that I had a German version of Adobe Drive on my G5. The I tried to connect to the local server. The connection failed. But I could connect to the server on my MacBook. So I was happy with my MacBook working because I use it for demos and presentations. I could create all my needed screenshots for my training and support stuff and gave up on getting the connection to work on my G5. If you still want to contact me, feel free to use e-mail. Thanks a lot. Sabine

I know this is an older post but I had the same problem and this solved it. Delete the database log files (VersionCue.log) located here:
Windows
Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Server\Logs
Mac OS
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Server/Logs
Hope this helps someone.

...Not sure if the problem still exists, but I've been successful in connecting to multiple "drives", on local and remote networks, with Adobe Drive. I haven't read all the correspondence, but it sounds like you have two Macs, both running CS4. Each Mac has Version Cue running and Version Cue admin is accessible...? If yes to both, then the each server (drive) should be automatically visible on their own Adobe Drive user interface. You have to manually connect to other servers. You have to know the IP address of the server ahead of time and use ports 51000 or 3703, for remote or local servers, respectively. You also need to configure the external URL for each manually connected server (drive). At the present time, you can't connect to multiple servers simultaneously. You have to disconnect from one, before connecting to another.
