Some questions about version cue CS4

Hi there,
I'm evaluating switching over to version cue to version control all or part of what we do (currently we're using Alienbrain for revision control).
After playing around with a demo system (I have the Version Cue server on an OSX Server, and am connecting from a laptop on the same network), I have a few questions that maybe someone can answer:

1. Why can I not set the data store to a network location? It seems that the most efficient method for storage of large quantities of data is via a NAS or SAN and yet these are not supported methods? I can't even set the backup path to be a network location, which seems ludicrous.

2. How can I get "local copies" of files I've checked out? It seems that when in bridge I can check out files, but as soon as I disconnect from the network, the Adobe drive disconnects, with no trace of the files I've checked out anywhere.

3. Is there version cue integration with flex builder?

4. What happens if I check out the same file from two different machines?

Thanks in advance
