The message says to check the logs.

I had uninstalled Version Cue CS2 since it wouldn't run on my Intel Mac. After upgrading CS2 to CS4 Master Collection I found that VC wasn't installed with the upgrade, so I installed VC CS2 and then upgraded to VC CS4.
Now when I try to Turn On VC CS4, I get the above message.
My console message for Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Server/logs/VersionCue.log reads:

06/01/09 4:42:06 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.adobe.versioncueCS4[4856]) Exited with exit code: 1
06/01/09 4:42:06 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[274] 2009-01-06 16:42:06 : vcfoundation::base::VCException: Version Cue startup failed
06/01/09 4:42:06 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[274] Trace: (null)

Any ideas?

Would removing CS2 pref pane from System Prefs hurt CS4 in any way?

Hi Nicholas, it looks like CS4 install is somehow broken. Removing or uninstalling the CS2 server does no harm. Please uninstall the VC CS4 server gain and make sure to delete everything under /Library/Application Support/Aobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Server. Then do a reinstall of the CS4 server.

That did the trick. Thanks Frank. I didn't think to reinstall because it was a new install. Now all is working perfect.
Thanks!

My copy of Version Cue CS4 exhibits the same behavior. I want to follow the prescribed solution above, but I'm already stuck on uninstalling VC CS4. Is there an uninstaller to do the chore properly? If so, where is it? If not, do I simply trash the app found in /Library/Application Support/Aobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Server/bin? (I've been upgrading and installing files all day, so everything is a blur.)

The furthest I've been is to first delete everything under /Library/Application Support/Aobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Server, then start up the CS4 setup app, choose Version Cue, then let the app uninstall and reinstall the related files. However, this procedure doesn't work; Version Cue CS4 still won't start. Add to the frustration the re-updating of 149 MB of files after each run of the setup app (which includes the VC CS4.0.1 update).

Is there another solution? What I'm I missing?
