Move VC 3 to a new physical server and restore backup - Problems

I was forced to move our VC 3 server to another server.
Before the move we syncronised all material and took a back up of our projects.

The new server is installed and configurated as the old, but I have one BIG problem. The new server "can't see" the backup file so I can't restore any data.

The backup file is located in a third server and I have tried to do as these advices say:

The location is the same as for the old server but I have tried both to empty the file's and place them somewhere else before copied back and to place them in the "original" place for VC and relocate VC.

But it still doesn't work. I haven't found a way to uninstall the new server to start from scratch either.

does anyone have any idea how to help me?
