We are in the process of moving from Mac to Windows. We use Illustrator to generate technical graphics for manuals. Currently, on the Mac side, we are using FileMaker to catalog our illustrations in a database. More importantly, that is how we assign unique control numbers which double as the filename of each new graphic, so that we can back them up to a server without overwriting an existing illustration (we have a library of thousands). Our control number format is something like "ABC12345".

My question is:

Is there a way within CS to assign unique filenames?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give...
