A combination of Vista 32/64 machines with the server being Windows XP Pro SP2.

The connection problem usually occurs after a reboot or a log off, although sometimes it's happened during use, or during a check-in. VC3 always worked perfectly with the exact same setup.

The data is lost because the server cannot be contacted or found until the CS4ServiceManager directory is deleted and the computer is rebooted.

A huge problem is that once the disconnect happens, you're dead in the water. So not only do you lose the files you hadn't yet checked in, but you can no longer work on anything. If, for whatever reason, you simply can't reboot your computer right away (as is often the case when you have a million files/emails open and are constantly dealing with the hell of clients during a busy day) then you are essentially completely frozen.

Yuck, this really is a huge mess. Our senior management is in a huge battle right now with half of us wanting to switch to a shared network drive and the other half wanting to tough out VC4 in desperate hope that Adobe has a fix coming very very shortly.

I'm on the side of a shared network drive. VC4 really is just an EPIC disaster.
