Version Cue CS4 with Windows Server 2003 x64

I have installed VersionCue on my Win Server 2003 x64 SP1. I then updated Version Cue with 4.0.1 released in late November.

Version Cue appeared to properly install and update and is listed in "Services". When I attempt to start the Version Cue Server I receive an error message "Version Cue could not be started. Please check the Version Cue logs".

There are no Version Cue logs in the "logs" section of the application files.

There are critical errors in the "Application" section of the Events Viewer but they only say that Version Cue had a critical failure.

"Faulting application VersionCueCS4.exe, version 4.0.1.0, faulting module VersionCueCS4.exe, version 4.0.1.0, fault address 0x0001a2ee."

Any help would be appreciated in solving this problem.

Hi,
I will try to help you, but I would need some more information:

- Did you try to restart the system and start the server again?
- Did you set up and use Version Cue CS4 Server, before you updated to 4.0.1 (Created projects, users, added files and versions)?
- Which exact suite did you use? Which components did you install, only the server?
- You said that the logs are empty. Did you Have a look at the logs via the advanced tab in the Version Cue Server CS4 administrator UI, and there Server log.

Best,
Arne

Thanks for helping. I will answer your questions.

- I hadn't restarted the server but I have now. Version Cue still won't start.

- No, I hadn't used Version Cue CS4 because I was following the threads on problems with it and was waiting for the update.

- I installed it from Master Collection and I only installed Version Cue and the accompaning files. The server is truly a data server for media.

- Since Version Cue wouldn't start I never got to the Server Administrator. The "Logs" files area in the Version Cue Program Files is empty. I did receive notification of Microsoft errors being logged and sent to Mircrosoft in association with the Version Cue.

Greetings Dick Reed and Arne Schrder,

I had the same problem as you Dick - same program and OS. What worked for me was to uninstall Version Cue CS4 server, copy the administrator user from Active Directory Users and Computers - hence creating a new user with administrator privaliges, log on as the new user, install Version Cue CS4 server, install the upgrade, and configure.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your suggestion.

I did everything as you described, but the Version Cue server still wouldn't start. Same message.
