Am starting to roll out CS4 and want to start using Version Cue but am not sure of what some of the best practices are. Is there a FAQ or other document out there which can help? Some issues: 1. Separate machine or install on Win2K3 server? Do most people install Version Cue on the main file server or do they have a separate machine? If it's a separate machine, how do you handle backups since Version Cue doesn't seem to allow for storage on a network drive? Do you simply share the backup folder and backup over the network? 2. Active Directory integration. I know that there is LDAP support but looking at the option, it wasn't clear how AD figures into it. Is there a step-by-step guide? 3. Remote Access. Is there a way to allow remote access but lock down admin access only to the local network? Thanks!

Hi Henry, 1. most users put version Cue server on their file server, but putting it on a standalone solution sounds fine. Like always. If you schedule BackUps in version Cue, just use any backup tool or any script to save them on external drives. 2. Since AD is a derivate of LDAP this works, have someone with enough experience available and than it is possible to use an Active Directory (with its limitations...). Here is the help about LDAP <http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Bridge/3.0/WS8B021048-2D4D-476f-9BA8-0B5A3777953D.html#WS0F86CEE5-B55F-49e9-8047-4B0B08B822E0> 3. the user will always have the same permissions, whether remote or local. You define rules. Just create users with limited permissions and give those logins for remote users or ask the users to use these logins for remote access, those inside your network may use other rules. hope that helps Markus
