Set Version Cue CS3 ServerGUID

We use virtual machine cloning to set up servers. We would like to be able to change the ServerGUID after an image has been applied to a new machine.

Background: Every Version Cue CS3 Server advertises a UUID, which is used by clients to identify that server. We've found that we can read this UUID from the Windows Registry: It's in a value called ServerGUID in registry key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS3

We've tried overwriting this value in the registry, and it gets re-written by Version Cue server to the previous value the next time it starts up.

We've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Version Cue server on the same machine, and the UUID still didn't change.

Hi Brian, before creating the image of the installed VC Server, just edit the VersionCueSettings located in the config folder of the VC Server installation directory and search for an entry that looks like the following:
<vcentry key="forceUUID">
   <vcfalse/>
</vcentry>

Now just change the <vcfalse/> to <vctrue/> and you are done. The next time the VC Server starts up it will generate a new internal UUID once. Subsequent startups will use that UUID then.

Thank you, Frank... this did exactly what we needed!
